Hey, I'm Eric. I build software that doesn't crash when it counts.
I'm a fullstack engineer and system architect based in Nairobi. I spent three years as Co-Founder and CTO of a mobility startup, and these days I split my time between training AI coding agents and building my own products.
A bit about me
I studied Physics and Computer Science at Multimedia University of Kenya, which is really just a roundabout way of saying I've always liked figuring out how things work underneath. That curiosity turned into a career building software: 5+ years now, most of it spent on systems where getting it wrong costs someone real money.
For three years I was Co-Founder and CTO of Fleetsimplify, a mobility startup in Nairobi backed by Google for Startups, Toyota Tsusho's Mobility 54, and Alchemist Accelerator. I led a small engineering team and ran our infrastructure on GCP and Kubernetes. Along the way, the systems I built processed over $4M in payment volume and served 12,000+ users at 99.9% uptime.
These days I train AI coding agents at Turing (top 1% of their global developer network) and build my own products on the side, the ones below among them. Still the same habit: pull something apart until I understand it, then build it better.
If you want the one-line version: I'd rather ship something small and correct than something big and fragile.

A few projects, and the story behind each

Instadriver
I spent three years as Co-Founder and CTO of Fleetsimplify (backed by Google for Startups, Toyota Tsusho's Mobility 54, and Alchemist Accelerator), and Instadriver is the product I'm proudest of. It's a marketplace connecting professional drivers with fleet and vehicle owners across Kenya's gig economy: drivers build a verified profile and get hired, owners get a partner app with real-time earnings, vehicle tracking, and maintenance visibility. I spearheaded the whole thing: architected the backend and infrastructure, built the web frontend on Next.js myself, and directed the team building the native iOS and Android apps. It's live today, still running.

WordWeave
WordWeave is mine end to end: product, design, and code. It rewrites AI-generated text so it reads like a person wrote it, which turned out to be a much harder problem than it sounds. I designed it, built it on Next.js, and shipped it solo.

FuelKenya
Fuel prices in Kenya are set monthly by a regulator and published as a PDF nobody wants to read. FuelKenya turns that into something usable: live pump prices for petrol, diesel, and kerosene across 224 towns, price history, a countdown to the next pricing cycle, and a trip-cost calculator. I built the data pipeline, the public API, and the frontend, and I still maintain it.

CV Builder
An offshoot of WordWeave: an ATS-friendly CV and cover letter builder with AI drafting and match scoring, plus a Kanban board that tracks every application so job hunters aren't juggling a CV in one app, a tracker in a spreadsheet, and a cover letter in a random doc. Paste a job link and it fills in the company and role, scores your CV against the actual description, and drafts a tailored cover letter in one click. Built on Next.js and MongoDB.
A few more
AnchorPay
An open-source Wallet-as-a-Service backend: clean, typed, and built the way I like payment infrastructure to be, boring in all the right ways.
The Flex
A property rental platform with a full admin dashboard, Hostaway API sync for guest reviews, and Google reviews integration.
FilesDrive
A cheaper Google Drive alternative: simple, fast file storage without the enterprise price tag.

I like hearing about interesting problems, fractional CTO work, or just talking shop. Drop me a line, I usually reply within a day.
